Reaching Out!                                                     By:  Mark A. DePugh

Is outreach really important? Is our outreach limited? Who is capable of “reaching out”? Why is outreach a vital part of any ministry? Do I qualify to be an “outreacher”?

These are just a few of the questions that may cross your mind when we consider what “outreach” is really all about. Firstly, any outreach must consist of a desirable substance.…. A substance or attraction that if communicated and shared properly will actually reach out and draw others in. Doesn’t sound like rocket science..Does it! Actually….. It’s not!

Have you ever dealt with a good salesman? What did they do that made them successful? Were they knowledgeable about their product? Did they speak highly about their product? Did they give a personal account of how good the product was in their application? Did they appear to speak with positiveness and excitement?

Outreach is very similar to a salesman’s approach. Sound strange… It shouldn’t. A salesman would never sell anything if he didn’t let people know what product he had available. As Christians involved in Evangelism and Ministry, we need to let others know what we have available….. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

We need to be knowledgeable concerning God’s Word and Plan of Salvation. We need to be excited about what God is doing in our lives. We need to give personal examples of the change He has made in our homes and families. We need to present Christ to the WORLD!

The Fellowship of Christian Hunters’ organization is a tremendous avenue of ministry. The outdoor activities of hunting, hiking, canoeing, camping etc…. are used to bring people into God’s presence and power via the beauty created by an Omnipotent and Almighty God. Sure we love to hunt and fish and enjoy what God has given us, but we must continue to minister! How can you do that? Become active in our planned activities, invite friends to various FCH functions, talk excitedly to others about the organization, and help people realize how much wholesome fun and fellowship we actually have! If you’re from out of State…. Maybe you could start another Chapter?? I guess bottom line..what I am trying to say is…..Each and every one of you can be a minister. The door is open…get excited, step out, and follow God’s leadHe is AWESOME!
